DescriptionUpton Castle was the residence of the Malefant and Bowen families for many centuries. The Upton Castle estate was partitioned between four heiresses in 1787. Along came John Tasker to buy the castle and part of the estate. He had made his fortune in India. He was Sheriff of Pembrokeshire in 1798 and he died on 12/12/1800 aged 58. The estate passed to his niece Maria Margaretta who married first the Reverend Thomas Woods and secondly the Reverend William Evans. All these people are mentioned in this little group of papers
