The conditions include the following: "That the teaching in the said school be a portion of industrial pursuits that is to say that industrial pursuits be encouraged therein by reading for a portion of the lessons in the said school lessons thereon if such book by obtainable at a price not exceeding 8d. The lessons to be on such subjects as these: making and mending stockings, cooking good wholesome food for girls; for boys lessons on the theories of usual and common employ. In default of this teaching the document to be null and void and to no effect. And also the said James Mark Child, esquire shall have the privilege at reasonable and convenient times to deliver an address or speech on such subjects as shall tend to do good to the minds and souls of those who may be present to hear him"
