| Description | Mr D. Islwyn Jenkins was a former student of the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. His first teaching post was at Tavernspite N. P. School (1936 - 1938); he then served in the R. A. F. until the end of the war. In September 1946 he taught at Fishguard C. P. School. A year later he moved to Tegryn School and in September 1950 he became headmaster of Newport C. P. School where he remained until his retirement in April 1976. In Newport he first lived at Bryn Alban, Parrog (with his wife Annie Geranwen and her parents Reverend Arthur Henry and Annie Jane Rogers) and later he moved to Parkyrcastell in Market Street |
