  <dc:title>Papers of the Reverend John Bowen Rowlands of Hubberston</dc:title>
  <dc:description>Reverend J.B. Rowlands was the son of a Haverfordwest architect, Thomas Rowlands.  In 1864 he obtained his B.A. and in 1878 his M.A. He was ordained deacon in 1864 and priest in 1865 in which same year he took up duties as assistant curate in the church of St. Margaret's-next-Rochester, Kent. From there he became, Army Chaplain at Aldershot before becoming rector of Hubberston in 1869. During his years there he gained the reputation of being a powerful and accomplished preacher and an eloquent and convincing platform  speaker.  It was said that people would walk miles in order to hear one of his services.  He died on 27th June 1928 at the age of 88
