  <dc:title>Records of the Starbuck family</dc:title>
<dc:description>Although the Starbuck family were among the first inhabitants of the town of Milford, these papers date mainly from much later.
Gayer Starbuck was the son of Daniel, one of the original settlers of Milford. He married Eleanor Penrose and founded Milford Brewery. In 1858 he died at the age of 77. His brother Paul had a son, Alfred Basset Starbuck who died 1874 leaving four daughters:- Mary, Elizabeth, Annie, Dorothy. It is the papers of this generation which make up the bulk of this collection. Mary married Dr. George Griffith of Milford and they had three children:- Gwladys Mary, William Starbuck and Mabel. Elizabeth married the Rev. William Beach Thomas and they had four daughters:- Hilda, Percy Flora, Alice and Marjorie.
