A meeting took place in Sept. 1866 to consider taking steps to light the town, and, as a result, a new application was made to adopt the Act in September 1867, and the Narberth Gas Company was formed. Gasworks were duly erected on a site leased from the Baron de Rutzen. In 1889, the Company granted an underlease of the whole gasworks to William Edward Jenkins and Joseph Gibbon (no 1156) The two items numbered 851 and 852, and described as minutes of the Narberth Gas Company, are in fact, the minutes of the meetings of the Inspectors appointed under the Act; the office -- inspector appears always to have been held by members of the Board of the Gas Company, and their principal function was to issue orders to the parish Overseers to levy gas rates.
