With letter dated 20 Aug 1806 to Thomas James of Faenor, [Llawhaden], from Thomas Hopkins (distant relative of the Skyrme family, recently returned from India) c/o Mr Caldwell, chandler, at the corner of Walkers Court, Soho, London, wishing to purchase land on which to build a house whilst managing a "tin manufactory in which I mean to employ several hundred hands. I would if you like it make you a cashier of the said works and had you half a dozen children I'll find you a lucrative employment for each". [The tin manufactory was intended to be built at "Rowlands near Blackpool", probably at Rowlands Park in the parish of Narberth South.]
