1 - Court roll of the manors of Spittal and Reynaldston in the County of Pembroke, belonging to John Hook and the Philipps family of Haythog. The court appears to have done little work. There are only 4 entries on the roll - one concerning the death of a tenant and the entry of his heir, one concerning a stray ram in the custody of the bailiff and two concerning the appointment of constables
2 - Presentments re new tenants, constables and absentees from court
3 - Court book. The court by this time is better organised and recording more business. Matters recorded in this book are rents from tenants and entry fines from new tenants; amercements for non attendance at the court; encroachment on the rights of the Lord of the Manor; the problem of regulating cattle grazing on the common, preventing them straying in the road and being impounded with consequent concern at state of pound; presentment of necessary repairs; appointment of constables (only one 1847 -1854, then 2 appointed again)
4 - Court book. This book records three separate changes in ownership of the court, by purchase and inheritance. In 1869 James Higgon purchased the court, in 1877 his son John inherited it and in 1901 it passed to Emily, John's widow. Each is accompanied by a note of the appointment of a new steward and bailiff. The main concerns of the court seem to be confined to receiving the rents of tenants and entry fines of new ones; appointment of constables and encroachment on the rights of the Lord. The last entry is very faded but appears to donate the rents and fees to the use of the bailiff and the poor, while a rate is to be applied to a public parochial project
